ST VRAIN CREEK
Enjoy the scenery, wildlife, and amenities at the A-Lodge, or the countless outdoor activities nearby.
The A-Lodge offers guests first class access to downtown Lyons as well as the St. Vrain Creek – a five minute walk from our property. The St Vrain is not only gorgeous but has top notch tubing. Some of the best access to the creek as well as for tubing is found at the LaVern Johnson Park, easily walkable from your room at the A-Lodge. Rent a tube right at the park from Rays River Rentals.
Fly Fishing Lodge
St. Vrain Creek brings that extra something special to the town of Lyons and especially for guests at the A-Lodge. For anglers coming to the front range of Colorado our Lyon’s property serves as a fly fishing lodge with all the amenities you need for a great Rocky Mountain fishing trip. Our suites give you and your friends plenty of room to spread out and relax, kitchens to prepare meals so you can save money and get out early not having to wait for the breakfast spots to open.
The fishing can be accessed in multiple locations from the lodge. North St. Vrain Creek has its headwaters in Rocky Mountain National Park very close to the lodge just south of Longs Peak. Fishing is allowed in the park and you access this part of the stream by entering at the Wild Basin ranger station. Fishing in “The Park” as locals call it is something every fisherman will want to experience, the majestic nature of the peaks here is unlike anything else in the state and the clear water allows you to see the fish from incredibly far away.
Rocky Mtn To The Indian Peaks
Middle St. Vrain Creek lies just south of the park in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, a stunning range full or 13,000-foot peaks. Flowing east through Camp Dick and Peaceful Valley campgrounds and just west off Hwy 72 at Peaceful Valley you could not be in a better location to access these fishing holes. Look for cutthroats in the small pools and ask the front desk for the details on the best ones.
South St. Vrain Creek also has its headwaters also in the Indian Peaks Wilderness and can be accessed of Hwy72 at Ward. Drive to the Brainard Lake Recreation Area where there is a $5 per car charge to enter. This is well worth it as it gives you access to several varieties of fishing in a pristine area.
All this, a comfortable suite and a beer garden to boot, lodging with us is a bit of a fisherman’s dream come true!
