Lyons Adventure Hotel
The Rocky Mountain playground can be beautiful and exhilarating, rewarding and kind but it can also be deadly or in some cases miserable if you are not prepared. In certain times of the year you could have heat stroke from sun exposure during the day and if you were to get stuck out at night have one of the most bone-chilling experiences of life. Knowing the weather and being prepared so you do not get lost is key.
There are also trail closures for wildlife during certain times of the year as well as for trail work or in response to flooding. Knowing which trails are open and respecting trail closures is critical to wildlife habitat and in some cases emergency workers in an area. Please check these conditions and honor them before entering an area. Cliff closures follow in this same category and are not only important for wildlife but to keep access to climbing to these pristine areas.
Keep Informed & Be Safe
For backcountry skiers knowing the avalanche forecast is essential to safe travel in the mountains and it should be followed not just on the days you are in the mountains but regularly so you have a thorough understanding of the snowpack in the region. For those inexperienced in backcountry travel and the perils of avalanche danger, it is highly recommended you hire an experienced local guide.
Then of course there is the ski report which is maybe not as critical but keeps you in the know on which mountain to hit and which skis to bring.
Keeping informed is the best way to insure that you have fun in the mountains while keeping safe and respecting others and wildlife. As your Lyons adventure hotel we want you to have your best Rocky Mountain experience, feel free to ask any questions you have to do so.
